Every year, on the night of June 30th, people across Bulgaria head east—to Kamen Bryag, Gradina, or any stretch of coast where the sky meets the sea. They stay up all night, waiting for the first light of July 1st. It’s called July Morning. What began in the late 1970s as a quiet act of rebellion has become a nationwide tradition.
